Characters

Harsh:

Our Lead character. An IITian with exceptional talents and great achievements. For starters, he has the distinction of having a good looking girlfriend in the campus and he possesses the talents to keep her away from the 'DESPOS'. He is average in looks,unpredictable at studies and ridiculous at debates. He is a wannabe writer,programmer,thinker,politician,educationalist and much more.He indulges in drinking only on special occasions. And ,goes on to add another crazy act to his otherwise non-happening routine.

Radhika:

The Diva of the campus.She possesses a long friend list and an even longer crush-list(for her).Somehow in love with Harsh.Affectionate and not at all shy with displays of affection.In fact,on occasions, she has made Harsh uncomfortable with her highly affectionate self.

Garvit:

He is the closest friend of Harsh.Both of them are room-mates and compliment each other very well.He is a Bollywood freak and possesses a deep affection for Himesh Reshamiya.He has had various relationships in the past. His every new relationship has set a new record for the shortest affair. He is a chain smoker and drinks quite often. He is a wannabe playboy but still a wannabe Arranged Husband.

Sahil:

Harsh and Garvit's neighbour. He is almost always in their room. Shares Garvit's passion for smoking but is very shy of women. He is obsessed by a lady from his past and her memories still haunt him. He is a great fan of the Beatles.

Rahul:

Sahil's roommate. A Druggie, a techie and a lover. He always has his geeks on.He is the troubleshooter. Anything wrong technically and Rahul is on the rescue. He is on a high atleast once a day and listens to Pink floyd in his times of ecstacy.

Rajiv:

A mysterious character,but still a part of the boys' group.Shares most common passions with the boys but enjoys his work more than anything.He is always there for the group,but never at the cost of his studies.

Act-I

(The Pilot)

Date: 28th March 2010

Time: 12:00 Noon

Place: A Dorm Room Somewhere in IIT KGP

Garvit: You seem very restless.What is wrong with you?

Harsh(Infuriated) : What is wrong with me !!! I will tell you what is wrong with me . I have a girlfriend and she is going to murder me when she comes to know what I did last night.

Rahul : But how will she come to know??

Harsh : I have to tell her.

ALL : What!!!!(in great amazement).

Rajiv : Why are you going to tell her??

Harsh : Because she is my girlfriend. And our relationship is based on mutual trust. I can't cheat on her like this. I have to tell her. It should be her decision,if she still wants to accept me.

Sahil: This is why I keep away from relationships.I mean, you guys think that you are saints and you have to be all truthful.I can't handle all this pressure.

Rahul: No,you keep away from relationship because you can't talk to girls.And,more importantly because girls don't want to talk to you

Garvit(to Harsh): Just let it go dude.You are a human being and human beings have desires.Desires,hidden deep inside their heart and when you get drunk,I mean really drunk these desires come to the surface.There is nothing unusual about it.

Harsh : I don't care for your random philosophy.I have to tell her.

Garvit : In that case,you better start looking for a new girlfriend.

(Everybody,but Harsh nods in agreement.)

I have a suggestion for you.How about your right hand.

(Everybody,but Harsh laugh as hell.)

( Harsh gives them a disgusted look and then leaves the room for the lobby to make his phone call.)

Harsh: Hello,Radhika.

Radhika: Yeah,I was thinking of calling you.

Harsh : Listen,we need to talk. Can you meet me for lunch in an hour.

Radhika: What place?

Harsh: CCD. I had a heavy breakfast.

Radhika: Fine, Even I am down with yesterday's Hangover.

Harsh : What!!! You got drunk yesterday?? Fine, We will talk during lunch,bye

Radhika: Bye.

Act-2

(The Flashback)

Date:14th February 2010

Time:1:00 AM

Place:A lonely meeting point for couples.

Radhika: You know,this the first among the many Valentine's Day we are going to spend together.

Harsh: Sure it is.I want to celebrate every Valentine's Day with you.I Love you sweety.

Radhika: I Love you too,Darling.

(Long silence as the two of them appreciate everything in the surrounding,and then start hugging and kissing each other on the cheeks and forehead with affection.)

Radhika: You know relationships should be based on mutual trust and understanding.I trust you because I know you are truthful.Promise me you will never break my trust.

Harsh: Trust me that I'll never break your trust.I'll love you and only you forever and ever.

(They start Kissing again,this time more intimately and affectionately . They continue doing so,until Harsh is stopped by Radhika from being too physical.)

Radhika: Stop that.We decided that we will wait until we are married.

Harsh: I am sorry.I will wait for you Sweety.I will wait for you forever.

Act-3

(The Last Night)

Date:27th March 2010

Time:11:30 PM

Place:The very same Dorm Room.

(All the friends but Rajiv are in the room,completely drunk and discussing issues that are way out of their control.For Rajiv,Lets assume that he is caught with one of his study assignments.)

Harsh: I love you all,guys. You are the best.Without you it would have never been possible.

Garvit: You did the major task yaar.We just helped you get what you deserved.

Harsh(pointing to rahul): I want more,give me more to drink.

Garvit : Give him , He becomes a man once he is drunk.he he he.

Harsh: What do you mean?? I am a man always.

Garvit: Shut up you. " We will wait until we are married"(in a high pitch tone).That's what losers say. If you are a man,let it show.

Harsh: I want love not a series of broken relationships like you.

Garvit: Accept that you can't do it.My relationships didn't work out but still I never compromised with the man in me.

Harsh: You mean to say I have compromised with the man in me.

Sahil: Guys,cool down,I think we should stop drinking now.

Harsh : Shut up you,I don't want to listen from another loser. You know call-girls na Rahul. Give me the number of the hottest. I will show her that I am a man.

Garvit: Good,thats like my boy.But where will you do that?? and where will you get the money from??

Rahul : Don't worry,he can take her to Hotel Park.They are always rooms available for such stuff there,I have a VIP account there so don't you worry for the money.Just pay me back once you get your Prize Money.

Sahil: Are you mad. He is not doing this.He is in a commited relationship and no.......he can't do it.

Garvit: Shut up you loser. Atleast today our group will have one loser less.

Harsh : I am not a loser.

Rahul: We will take you to the hotel. Here is the number 97..7..5..5..4..98..40. Her name is Rishika. Ri..s..h..ik..a. Call her once you are in the hotel room.Come on lets go.

Harsh: I need to drink more before I leave.

Garvit : Drink on dude , today you are going for glory.

Act-4

(Last Night - II)

Date: 28th March 2010

Time: 9:30 AM

Place: A Hotel Room in Park Hotel,Near IIT KGP.

(Everything about the room seems ok except that Harsh is lying on the bed completely naked and alone.)

( Cellphone Rings and this wakes up Harsh.)

Harsh: Shit......Where's my phone?? Where Am I ?? aaaaa.

( A lot of random thoughts cross his mind,most of which have been censored for this play.)

( He finally finds his phone.)

Harsh: Here it is.

Harsh: Hello.

Rahul: Hello Dude!!! , How did it go with Rishika.

Harsh: I remember nothing. I am completely blank and I am too down with the hangover . I have to come back.

Rahul: Fine,Come back . You just check out of the hotel. All the payments will be taken care of.

Harsh: Thanks yaar,I am coming back.

(Harsh Dresses himself up as fast as he could and leaves the room.)

Act-5

(The Blogomania)

Date:27th March 2010

Time: 9:30 PM

Place:The dorm room.

(Everyone in the room is busy looking at the desktop display.Here is when Mr.Troubleshooter, Rahul enters.)

Rahul: Hi,Everyone Wassup.

Garvit: Yaar,Harsh participated in an event of IIT Roorkee's Techfest called the Blogomania. He was First Overall until yesterday,but today someone has taken a 0.05 lead over him.The competition ends in half an hour. We are afraid he might end up second.

Rahul: What is this event all about.

Rajiv: Its pretty cool in fact. You have to write a blog and then publicize it among fellow-participants who in turn rate the blog-entries.The best rated blog finally wins.

Rahul : So,Harsh is down by like 0.05 points out of???

Harsh: I have scored 4.25 on 5 while the top team is at 4.3 on 5.

Rahul: So guys,the solution is simple.All that we need is around 20 fake accounts.

Harsh: what??

Rahul: We make 20 fake accounts and vote for Harsh's blog.Simple.

Everyone come on onto your laptops,four accounts per person quick!!!

(Half an Hour Later)

Harsh: Yes , I have won .I have won a prize money of 25k. Thanks all of you yaar thank you.

Garvit: Chal Harsh you are throwing us a booze treat.

Harsh: Sure dude, But where will we get booze now.

Rahul: Don't worry we will goto aunty's now. Comeon follow me!!!! ha ha!!!

Act-6

(The Final Showdown)

Date:28th March 2010

Time: 1:00 PM

Place: CCD,IIT KGP

(Harsh is waiting impatiently for Radhika,when finally Radhika arrives.)

Harsh(Standing up from his chair): Hi!!

Radhika(Giving Harsh a sideways hug): Hi Sweety.

Harsh: So what will you have.

Radhika: I am fine maybe we will order later.First,you wanted to talk.

Harsh(Surprised by the way Radhika was behaving): yeah, Radhika, actually yesterday I won the Blogomania contest and then I got drunk and then Last Night I..........

Radhika : I Know yaar

Harsh(with jaws hanging): What!!!!

Radhika : See none of us has to regret what happened yesterday.I mean,you were drunk and so was I,thanks to Swati's Birthday treat and then the way you called me I couldn't help but come to Park and there......

(Harsh still in disbelief , he took his phone and checked the CALL LOG. Now,call it fate,true love or just his enormous drunkardness, He had called Radhika in place of the call-girl Rishika.)

(He started smiling and paid attention to what Radhika was saying.)

Radhika: ...............and,yeah I am really sorry that I panicked and freaked out,You know once we were done you slept and I kept thinking.I felt a great sense of guilt and I left the hotel.Later,when I thought about it I felt really bad that I left the room.I shouldn't have left you alone.I mean we love each other and this just makes our bond stronger,right??

Harsh: Absolutely yaar,I love you and I am sorry but then as Eric Segal says hhuhh::

"Love means never having to say you're sorry."

PS: We know that you are not yet satisfied.You wanted a full video of this play.We tried our level best to pull that off.We approached many girls for the role of 'Radhika',but none of them accepted to do it , especially not the ACT-2.
